Sister cities / twin towns
Aware of the necessity of cooperation and experience exchange with the local self-government units abroad, connecting in the areas of culture, commerce, sport, and overcoming the borders in the process of European and world integration, the City of Bijeljina is dedicated to the development of friendly ties with the municipalities and cities abroad.
Since 2006, the municipality, i.e. the City of Bijeljina has signed twinning agreements, or cooperation agreements (at the level of twinning agreement) with Kumanovo (North Macedonia, 2006), Langenhagen (Germany, cooperation established in 1999, twinning agreement signed in 2007), Kruševac (Serbia, 2008), the City of Ruse (Bulgaria, 2009) and the Municipality of Peć/Goraždevac (Serbia, 2013), Leskovac (Serbia, 2018), Azov (Russia, 2018), Brasov (Romania, 2018), Zrenjanin (Serbia, 2018), and Budva (Montenegro, 2018).
Also, in scope of cross-border cooperation, the City of Bijeljina is developing intensive commercial and cultural relations with neighbouring cities and municipalities in the surrounding countries.
