11 New Business Ideas Presented in Bijeljina

As part of the collaboration between the City of Bijeljina and the Impakt Investment Foundation, a public presentation of business ideas developed under the entrepreneurship development support program called “IMPAKT - Business Ideas Incubator” was organized in Bijeljina.
The cooperation between the City of Bijeljina and Impakt began in 2018, and to date, 39 business ideas have been supported, with as many as 72% of them becoming the basis for today's business ventures.
This year, 27 applications were submitted, and the aspiring entrepreneurs underwent a two-month entrepreneurial training. Eleven participants presented their business ideas, and the best ones were awarded non-refundable financial support in the amount of 5,000 convertible marks. In addition to financial support, they will also receive professional mentoring to help develop their business potential.
This year's “offering” of business ideas was very diverse, ranging from the digital transformation of small businesses, opening a free-range laying hen farm, starting a literary workshop and clubs for children, to the cultivation of Californian worms for fishing.
City Manager Tatjana Pantić emphasized that one of the priorities of the City Administration is supporting self-employment and noted that, in addition to this program, there is another program that supports entrepreneurs through the Department of Economy (providing seed capital for starting their own businesses) and the Section for Local Economic Development and European Integration, with presenting business ideas followed by financial and, importantly, mentoring support for new entrepreneurs.
Head of the City Section for Local Economic Development and European Integration, Ankica Todorović, reminded that the “Impakt - Business Idea Incubator” has been supporting new business ideas since 2018, and the foundation's cooperation with the City of Bijeljina is structured so that 80% of the funds for this purpose are provided by the City, with the remainder coming from Impakt.
“Eleven business ideas were presented. The expert commission will select the most successful ones, which will receive financial support of up to 5,000 BAM. Additionally, mentoring support, which is crucial for new small entrepreneurs, will also be provided,” announced Todorović.
Executive Director of the Impakt Investment Foundation, Senaid Đozo, emphasized that he is extremely proud of the collaboration with the City of Bijeljina, as this program offers a range of entrepreneurial support tools, including mentorship and training for testing business ideas. He added that small businesses are the driver of local economic development and contribute to changing the concept of business life in the local community.
One of the business ideas presented was by Jasmin Babić from Bijeljina, who wants to start cultivating Californian worms for fishing as well as producing biohumus and the highest quality organic fertilizer.
“It doesn't require much financial investment, but the more you invest, the higher the profit. We want to launch our product in the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the idea is unique in our region,” said Babić, explaining that the worms reproduce every four months, and one brood contains 100,000 worms. When the number reaches a million, it becomes possible to talk about professional production.
