Quality of life

Bijeljina is an educational, cultural, health and tourist centre of the north-eastern part of Republika Srpska and BaH, and the attractiveness of life in Bijeljina and Semberija is best explained by the fact that the population of the city grows by a thousand people every year.
 
Culture
 
Several multi-day cultural and entertainment events are organised in Bijeljina during a year. They attract great attention of domestic public and visitors of Bijeljina – Saint Panteleimon Days, Višnjić Days, Comedy Days, May Music Festivities and Beer Fest. There are also numerous individual cultural events organised by the Cultural Centre, the City Library, theatre groups, artists' associations and local folklore societies.
 

 
Recently built Cultural Centre provides excellent conditions for all types of cultural events, and significant attention is given to the development of cultural creativity and in rural areas, primarily through supporting the work of cultural artistic associations and preservation of tradition.
 

 
Rest, recreation and entertainment
 
There are several picnic areas near the urban area of Bijeljina which are popular among people from Semberija and their guests.
 

 
The most famous place to relax and have fun is the complex of Ethno Village Stanišići, three kilometres away from Bijeljina – it is an interesting combination of a faithful copy of a village from mountain Romanija, medieval monastery complexes and a fortification with entertaining, sport and recreational, and modern catering contents. Swimming pools in Dvorovi and swimming areas on river Drina are extremely popular during the summer.
 

 
Recreationists have at their disposal numerous sport areas, and Bijeljina is known throughout the region for its nightlife and good entertainment in discotheques, clubs, taverns, pubs and cafes.
 
Education
 
Bijeljina offers excellent conditions for education at all levels – from pre-school to post-graduate. With over twenty faculties within the University of East Sarajevo and five private higher education institutions, Bijeljina has become a university centre, and with over 5,000 students it is called the city of youth, the city of young and educated people.
 

 
Spa Dvorovi
 
Spa Dvorovi is located at six kilometres from the Bijeljina centre. It is a health and recreational centre built around a spring of curative thermo-mineral water with a temperature of 75 degrees which is used to successfully treat rheumatism, diseases of the locomotor apparatus, post-traumatic conditions after surgical treatment, diseases of peripheral nerves... There are outdoor swimming pools filled with thermo-mineral water within the Spa Dvorovi, as well as a sport and recreational areas, health and rehabilitation centre, hotel, restaurants...
 

 
Healthcare system
 
Healthcare in Bijeljina is provided by qualified specialists and medical staff of Healthcare Centre Bijeljina, General Hospital Sveti Vračevi, International Dialysis Centre, and several private healthcare institutions, equipped with modern equipment. After building and equipping the new complex of the General Hospital Sveti Vračevi and expanding the clinic network, and by developing family medicine system at the Healthcare Centre, the healthcare system has been additionally improved.
